St John’s Gate is the last remaining part of the town wall, with the church of St John the Baptist built over it. Niches hold the legendary founders Brennus and Belinus. The side passages were made in the 1820s. St John’s Conduit nearby was built for the Carmelite friary and served the city again in the Blitz.

Do you remember Broad Street?

A coffee and an email at NetGates in 1996, a haircut at Wild At Heart, brunch at Ironworks, or a desk in the offices upstairs: if you have a photo or a story about No. 51 or its neighbours, from any decade, we would love to see it.
